Stone Sculptures By Jen

The stone sculptures above are a good example of how well Jen has developed since she first started sculpting in Oamaru stone at Papanui High School, Continuing Education night classes.

The nude sculpure above was to help Jen study on the nude figure. Jen spent time researching the female figure. she sketched the study on to the stone and carefully chiselled away until she managed to capture this elegant nude sculpture.

The other carving of the stone candle holder is Jen's first completley independent piece. She designed and worked from her own ideas and executed this sculpture with little help from her tutor.

Jen has great enthusiasm and works hard with care and effort to complete her sculptures like the ones above. Some of her other pieces have been given away to friends and family. Jen is very interested in art, such as painting and drawing, and she has now extended herself into Oamaru stone sculpting.
